Aurat Publication and Information Service Foundation (AF) is implementing a five year, USAID supported Gender Equity Program (GEP) in collaboration with The Asia Foundation. The program commenced on August 18, 2010 and will continue until August 15, 2015. AF works primarily with the collaboration of civil society organizations, networks and groups and has an outreach extending to all of Pakistan's districts. It is catalyzing critical groups in society to influence policy, legislation and programs for women's greater economic and political power in society.
The Gender Equity Program aims at closing the gender gap in Pakistan by proactively supporting the development of women. The program seeks to facilitate behavioral change in society by enabling women to access information, resources and institutions, and improve societal attitudes towards women's rights issues. Through this program AF will be giving more than 400 grants to civil society organizations in periodic grant cycles each year, themed to meet the overall objectives of the program.

In the month of August, 2014, Staff Orientation meeting conducted with the staff by GEP Project. In this meeting BOD of the organization also participated. Brief introduction of the project staff, project activities, project duration and project deliverable presented.
Purpose of Mapping exercise of women home based workers was to provides a summary of available knowledge and existing skills prevailing in the area where this mapping exercise done in six UCs of Multan. It also provides short description of the sectors/groups identified in the mapping exercise. There is wide range of skills in Multan District. Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) conducted in the villages to identify women home based workers (WHBWs) and also in depth interviews also arranged with these WHBWs and as a result beneficiary profiles filled of these WHBWs.
The research team collected data of 250 WHBWs during 10 FGDs in 5 UCs of district Multan. The village wise bifurcation of Women Home Based Workers was as following:-

The product ideation and designing workshop is first of the three skill development activities that design consultants of MOGH Limited are set to undertake in collaboration with the district partners and a nominated group Women Home Based Workers (WHBWs) supporting the primary objective of enhancing the livelihood of WHBWs from improved product development and marketing skills.
Linkage Development Meeting with government, social security and benefits schemes and micro credits institutions conducted in the month of February 2015.
The purpose and objective of the Linkages Development Meeting was to develop linkages between the beneficiaries with social security and benefit schemes and micro credit institutions available in the area.
Purpose of 2nd ToT of Prototype Sharing & Sample Production for identified women home based workers (WHBWs) was to development the catalogue of existing skills of these women. National consultants from MOGH imparted a 3 days training of trainers for these WHBWs organized in the office of Women’s Rights Association. This training will further impart by these master trainers at community level after completion of the ToT.
Outcome of the ToT was the development of a catalogue of all basic stitches owned by the WHBWs, after it WHBWs developed a swap of all the stitches and make them able to develop a textile design from these stitches. The purpose of this exercise was to introduce WHBWs skills to market/clients, to facilitate clients to make order and to facilitate WHBWs to decide the market they are linked with.
